Adriana Lima is the longest-running Victoria’s Secret model, and was named the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel last year.
But tonight, the 37-year-old confirmed she would not be returning to the catwalk next year, as she announced her retirement from the famous fashion show.
It came after the mother-of-two stepped out on the runway in New York City, for the taping of this year’s event – which will air on ABC on December 2.
Shortly after the filming took place, Adriana updated her fans on her impending departure from the fashion show on Instagram.
The stunner posted a number of clips from her time working the brand’s fashion shows over the past 20 years.
In a statement shared with her 11.7 million followers, she penned: “Dear Victoria, Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly.
“And all the [love] to the best fans in the [world]! Love, Adriana.”
Devastated fans rushed to comment on the news, with one person insisting: “The show won’t be the same without you.”
Another swooned: “MY FAVOURITE ANGEL FOREVER AND EVER HANDS DOWN.”
“Thanks to you @adrianalima for being a true angel,” gushed a third.
A fourth heart-broken person cried: “This isn’t happening.”
