The talented wide receiver made plenty of headlines in the lead up to the NFL Week 6 clash with Philadelphia Eagles following some controversial remarks he gave in an interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson on Sunday NFL Countdown.

Beckham seemingly questioned quarter-back Eli Manning and he did not hold back in his frustrations at their 1-4 record for the season.

“Uhh, I don’t know,” Beckham said when asked if the Giants have a quarterback problem. “I feel like … He’s not going to get out of the pocket.

“We know Eli’s not going to run it. Can he still throw it? Yeah. It’s cool catching it shallow and trying to take it, but I want to go over the top of somebody.

“I want to be the best that I can. I don’t feel like I’m given the opportunity to be the very best that I can be. I feel like I could score every quarter, if given the opportunity. I know those numbers could be double, or triple what they are right now.

“I want to win. I want to be great. I feel like I can score every quarter, if I’m given the chance. That’s not the case. 100 yards is a minimum.

“My goals are very, very high. If I don’t get the help to attribute to the team winning, money or no money, I’m not going to be okay with that.

“I just haven’t been in this situation. I haven’t been in the place where I feel like I can really go out and do everything that I’m capable of doing. I don’t get 20 targets, like some other receivers.”

And Beckham has reportedly been reprimanded for the comments by his side.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Beckham was fined an undisclosed amount by the team.

It’s not clear exactly which comments Beckham has been fined for with the receiver previously insisting he is not in the wrong for his comments.

“I don’t regret anything, I don’t regret anything that I said. If it took that for us to come together as a team like we did today, I can take that every single time,” Beckham said earlier this week.

“I spoke to the team just to kind of relay the message that sometimes stuff comes off the wrong way. Words can be portrayed in any kind of light. The conversation is between us.

“But the way we responded as a team to what was said, I felt like it would’ve been too easy after what was said, and after what I said to them for us to come in here and have heart, energy and all that stuff.

“Grit, whatever the words you want to use for that. We had it today, and we came up short, but I’m proud of this team, and this is the team that we are going to be for the rest of the season.

“Like I said, if it took that to get us going, I can take that. I’m trying to be a leader, I’m in a position I’ve never been in. I’m trying to grow, I’m learning on the way, on the fly, but I’m proud of where we went today.”
