Jurassic World 2 is roaring into cinemas across the globe with another feisty young lady central to the plot.
But 25 years ago the entire franchise kicked off with a girl who was strong, intelligent, fierce and had impressive computer skills.
Lex Murphy inspired kids everywhere when 1993’s Jurassic Park came out but where is the award-winning actress who played her now?
She was just 12 when she took on the biggest role of her career alongside Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and the late Richard Attenborough. At 38, Ariana made a rare return to the spotlight for the recent LA premiere of Fallen Kingdom.
The 38-year-old star looked suitably glamorous in a full-length, pale blue satin sheath on the red carpet.
The new movie features a chilling sub-plot about genetically cloned humans and, surrounded by folliage and dinosaur models, Ariana looks remarkably similar to her young self on screen.
She reprised her role in the 1997 sequel The Lost World, Jurassic Park, but moved away from acting in adult life.
Ariana had been a successful child star, with roles in TV shows like The Golden Girls and various made for television lifetime movies.
As an adult she made only one last appearance on screen in the little-known 2013 TV movie Battledogs, about a werewolf virus which contaminates New York City.
Instead, she has focussed on her passion for art. Her paintings are usually landscapes and figures, in the impressionists style. and she has already won a prestigious national award for her work.
In October 2005, the former child star won first place in the National Professional Oil Painting Competition (sponsored by American Artist magazine) for the painting Lady of the Dahlias.
In 2013 she moved to Oregon to study under a professional painter.
Ariana married Mark Bolton in 2013 and the coupe have one daughter.
