Diego Maradona: Argentina icon ‘checked by medics’ in World Cup game | Football | Sport

Maradona seemed to have a fun night on Tuesday as Argentina qualified for the knockout stages.

A late Marcos Rojo goal earned Argentina a 2-1 victory in St Petersburg.

Maradona was spotted before the match celebrating with fans, while he had tears in his eyes after Lionel Messi scored the opener.

The former Napoli star caused controversy at full time when flicking two middle fingers up at Nigeria fans during the Rojo goal celebrations.

And Maradona seemed to have enjoyed the party a little too much, with a video of him being taken back into the hospitality lounge during half time.

In footage taken from an Argentine journalist, Maradona is seen seemingly being carried into the hospitality box behind his seat in the stadium.

His aids try to get him to sit down but he resists at first.

Another picture of two medics checking him out has been leaked on social media.

And Argentine newspaper La Nation claim the medics checked Maradona for low blood pressure before he headed back into the stands for the second half, with a new top on.

There are claims Maradona was ‘rushed to hospital’ but Express Sport cannot confirm this as yet.

However, he certainly looked perkier at full-time than at the break, with footage of him dancing with a Nigeria fan after the game wrapping up the evening.
