Chelsea are currently taking on BATE Borisov in the Europa League and a win for Maurizio Sarri’s side will ensure they progress into the knockout stages.
However, neither side were able to break the deadlock during the opening 45 minutes of the foggy encounter in Belarus.
And many Blues supporters were quick to take aim at one player in particular.
“Giroud is too static ffs,” one fan wrote. “We miss Morata’s mobility and movements which helps our midfielders to easily create chances!”
Another said: “Giroud is useless.”
“Giroud might just be the worst striker to play for this club,” a third fan wrote.
A fourth fan commented: “Cant believe i am saying this but i wish morata played oh my!! Giroud is just something else! On the pitch to Kill attacks.”
One fan has even called for the Blues to sell Giroud.
“Chelsea need a striker ASAP and we need to sell Giroud ASAP.”
But shortly after the break, Giroud did manage to break the deadlock by heading home Emerson’s cross.
Before kick-off midfielder Mateo Kovacic urged his team-mates not to suffer the same slip-up Premier League rivals Liverpool did earlier this week.
The Reds suffered a shock 2-0 defeat against Red Star Belgrade away from home after beating the Serbian side 4-0 at Anfield.
Chelsea meanwhile won their first enounter with BATE 3-1 and Kovacic insists they must concentrate otherwise a defeat could be on the horizon.
“I watched the game, Liverpool struggled a lot,” the Croat said.
“In Belgrade the atmosphere is tough. It’s difficult to play there, like here [Belarus]. These are games where you need to concentrate a lot or you will lose the game.
“The most important thing is we need to be prepared so that what happened to Liverpool doesn’t happen to us.”
